    Is marijuana the right choice just because it's legal?

    No. Just because something is legal doesn't necessarily mean it's good for everyone.

    Marijuana contains over 100 chemical substances known as cannabinoids. Some of these, like tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), has been found to have negative effects on the brain and overall health of teens.

    Is there a difference between THC and CBD?

    Yes, there is.

    THC is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis and is what causes the "high" feeling. CBD doesn't cause a high. If used appropiately, it may help with pain, inflammation and sleep in adults and those with a medical prescription.

    Is marijuana addictive?

    Yes, marijuana can be addictive for some people.

    The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) states that marijuana use can lead to a disorder, with severe cases resulting in addiction. Recent data shows that 30% (1 in 3) of users may develop some form of marijuana use disorder. The risk is even higher for youth.
